How to store your kart

By Robert Gamble

Go kart storage is key.

Most people just assimilate possessions, but start to have NO room to put these things. Very often the go kart is relegated to the outdoors. Trouble is, that most go karts do not fair very well outdoors.

Chains get rusty...

Throttle cables get stuck...

Engines get filled with water or dirt...

Seats get infested with mice or insects...

Make sure that you consider the storage options for the go kart seriously and not put storage as the last thing to be considered.

An extended period of only a week in the outdoors, especially in the spring during the rain storms, and the chains and cables can become rusted pretty bad.

A simple tarp is sufficient in some instances, however, be aware of bees, and wasps, and varmints like mice and raccoons. A good cat can sometimes keep away at least the varmints, but bees and wasps, that's another story!

Bee aware!

Leaving your go kart out doors requires preparation and adequate shielding from the elements. I stored my go kart outdoors during the winter months, so that the garage was freed up for space. This worked out well, in that the go kart was painted, chain oiled and the complete go kart was covered with a tarp.

I stored it out by the wood pile and it fared just fine. The snow accumulated on the tarp and the cats kept the mice from making nests in the seat or under the tarp.

When I freed it in the winter time, everything was in good shape.

Storage is more shielding the go kart from harmful elements. ------------------------------------------------
